( See notes below for 2007 ) For 2006 the above parcel of  land outlined in red and located north of Lloyd Street in North Brevard had an assessed value increase of 500 percent and more. These 209 parcels range in size from 1.05 acres up to 19.23 acres. Total acreage is 442.67 which for the year 2006 is assessed at $2,868,950.00 with a total property tax bill of  $46,544.32.

Take note that none of the roads north of Lloyd Street exist.

The terrible inequities displayed here and the point to be made is the fact assessments range from $500.00 per acre to $7,500.00 an acre and all within this one immediate area next to each other.

On 19 acres one owner pays $1,582.59 while another pays $790.07 and yet another pays only $156.37.

Then we have the poor owner who pays $1,201.23 on ONLY 9.73 acres.

In this area other similar disparities exist besides the 4 shown.

Sadly, after this web site and the subject discrepancies were brought to the attention of the Governor and his Cabinet - Department of Revenue - 40 State Senators - 120 State Representatives and Brevard County elected officials including the Tax Appraisers office in February of 2007 nothing was done and the inequities continued for the 2007 Property Taxes as indicated by the update of this section on February 27, 2008. It should be noted taxes on the 9.73 parcel were reduced by 50 percent for 2007 which brings up some questions.

This land was plotted 92 years ago in 1914 and evidently has been taxed as a sub-division since that time.

It is apparent this was a land scam from the beginning because even if the roads were in many of the lots are land locked making them unusable.

Even after 92 years, sales records appear to indicate the subject property is still being used to skin people.

Appears also to indicate after a period, many lot owners choose not to pay the taxes and therefore the state auctions off the tax certificates year in and year out, over and over again. People do that and it's called a scam.

The records currently indicate that over 10 percent of the lots were obtained through Property Tax Sales.

The 209 parcels are owned by 149 identities - 140 identities own 1 parcel each and 9 identities own multi parcels.

Of the 209 parcels - 119 are owned by Floridians, 89 have out of state owners and 1 owner is from Canada.
